Returning to Sevilla: Feria 2018
The cold northern winter had me dreaming about my previous home of Sevilla for months. I'd assumed that it would be too expensive or impractical to make a trip back this year, but as Feria de Abril, Sevilla's huge annual fair, rolled around I couldn't help checking prices. On a whim, my friend Sydney and I decided to make a long weekend trip and go to Feria. It's such a dreamy, magical time of year in Sevilla, the weather is warm, the sun stays out late, and the smell of azahar, or orange blossom, wafting off the trees is sweet and intoxicating.
As soon as I bought my plane tickets I nearly burst into tears. Sevilla is one of the cities I love most in this world and being back just felt like pouring liquid sunshine over my heart. We wandered the narrow streets, danced the night away in the colorful Feria tents, and I had plenty of alone time to explore all my old haunts. There was something very soul quenching of going back to embrace one of my first Spanish loves. Sevilla was the place that embraced me in my wild decision to move to Spain, and affirmed that I made the perfect decision for myself. I am forever grateful for that gift, and I am now hoping to make a Feria trip an annual tradition while I'm still living in Spain.
Take a look at some of the photos from my trip, and let me know if you ever plan on taking a trip to Sevilla. I have helped several friends plan trips there and honestly love the feeling of helping others experience a place that has such a big part of my heart.
