Playing Tour Guides in La Rioja and Pais Vasco
Last year, Sam's dad and stepmom came to visit us in Sevilla. It was my first time meeting them, and I was immediately inspired by their love and thorough experience with travel. This year when they said they'd come visit us in the much lesser known region of La Rioja, we were excited by the opportunity to show them a completely new side of Spain. Since the region is so small, we've gotten to know it pretty well in the past several months, so we came up with an itinerary of some of our favorite places in La Rioja as well as Spain's Basque Country. Sam's family traveled by ferry all the way from England to Spain (crazy right?!) so they had their car and we could easily navigate to the treasured pueblos and cities that we've grown to love here.
Our trip started out with a day in San Sebastián, a famous beach town on the coast of the Basque Country, where we ate pinchos and soaked up the sunny weather. Throughout the week, we introduced them to our city, Logroño, as well as the pueblos of San Vicente, Briones, Laguardia, and Elciego, and plenty of wineries and pincho bars along the way. It was so nice to have Sam's family visit us again, and such a joy to get to show them what we've been up to all year!
